The View from My Bicycle

It was this view of Yosemite's Merced River that started it all. I was visiting Yosemite National Park for the first time last summer and this spot on a bridge overlooking the Merced River is the first place I stopped to take a photo from my rented bicycle.

I hadn't been on a bicycle in years, but during my Yosemite vacation with my nephew, Tyler, and niece, Alexis, we rented bikes for one of the days we were there and it was one of the most fun days I have ever had.

We rode our bikes all over the Yosemite Valley floor and visited Mirror Lake, the Lower Yosemite Falls, and just visually soaked up all of nature's beauty while bike riding on Yosemite's well maintained bike paths.

I love this view from my bicycle because it brings back such wonderful memories of my time in Yosemite, rafting down the Merced River the day before and soaking up California sunshine.

The Merced River is 145 miles long and has a swift and steep course through the southern part of Yosemite National Park and the Yosemite Valley.

Cycling has become a new passion for me so I now love renting a bike (if I can't bring my own) in every location I visit, if I can. A few weeks after the Yosemite vacation, I purchased a hybrid Diamondback Insight bicycle and have now put over 1600 miles on it in less than nine months.

I also enjoyed renting a bike in Monterey a month after my Yosemite trip when I was in Pebble Beach for a video shoot. I rode through Pacific Grove, California, and enjoyed spectacular views of Monterey Bay.
